Why staffing marketing needs two funnels, not one
A staffing firm is really running two businesses at once: selling placement services to hiring managers, and selling opportunities to candidates. Most marketing gets built around one generic B2B funnel that tries to serve both — and ends up converting neither well.
Different buyers, different triggers
A hiring manager is evaluating speed-to-fill, quality of shortlist, and reliability. A candidate is evaluating trust, role fit, and whether this firm actually has real openings — not just a job board scrape.
- Client-side content should lead with proof: fill rates, time-to-submit, and specific vertical expertise.
- Candidate-side content should lead with transparency: real roles, real rate ranges, and a recruiter who responds.
What this means for budget
Split your paid spend and your content calendar by funnel, and measure each against its own goal — cost per qualified client lead on one side, cost per placed candidate on the other. Blending the two into one number hides which side is actually underperforming.
